IdGL Summer School 2025
20–25 July 2025
Regions in Transition. Multicultural Spaces of Central and Southeastern Europe from a Cultural and Historical Perspective
Regions represent territorially defined and at the same time changeable units that must be understood both as constructs and in relation to their physical-geographical conditions. Their unstable positioning between higher-level and subordinate spatial structures, as well as the relational networks they are embedded in, makes them particularly rewarding subjects for closer examination.
Spring School 2024
Ports on the Danube in the 19th and 20th Centuries: History, Architecture, People
From April 16 to 19, 2024, a Spring School with 14 students from the Danube region was held at IdGL. The event took place within the framework of the project “Ports on the Danube”, funded by the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung.
The Spring School also welcomed lecturers from Serbia, further strengthening the close cooperation with the University of Novi Sad. The seminar focused on different concepts of the Danube region and the integrative role of the Danube in politics, economy, and culture. In addition to thematic panels on the history and infrastructure of individual Danube ports, the program included an excursion to Ulm and a visit to the Danube Swabian Central Museum.
IdGL extends its sincere thanks for the excellent collaboration with the DZM and for the informative guided tour along the Danube banks led by Mr. Wolf-Henning Petershagen.
