Andreas Sienz studied history and political science (B.A./licence) as part of the German-French TübAix programme at the Universities of Tübingen and Aix-en-Provence. He completed his M.A. in Southeast European Studies, specialising in history, at the University of Graz, with study visits to Cluj-Napoca and Regensburg. His Master’s thesis focused on war experiences in the Southern Transylvanian village of Apoldu de Sus/Großpold between 1940 and 1947.
Since March 2026, he has been a research assistant and PhD candidate at the IdGL.

- The Holocaust in Southeastern and Central-Eastern Europe
- Microhistory of rural areas
- Minorities and multiethnic spaces
